About the SEC Symposium: The primary goal of this academic conference-type event is to address a significant scholarly issue across the range of disciplinary strengths represented by all SEC universities in a manner that expands opportunities for collaboration among SEC faculty and administrators. Held in Atlanta, Georgia, other objectives include annually drawing national attention and participation to the Southeast region. This event is also intended to display the research and innovation of SEC institutions for an audience of academicians, government officials and other stakeholders. The SEC Symposium is usually held in September or October.

SEC Symposium Poster Exhibition Information Sheet
ONLY registered attendees are invited to submit abstracts for inclusion in the poster exhibition. Posters will be displayed in the Grand Hall East on the Exhibit Level at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta during the SEC Symposium. Poster authors will be assigned a time on either Sunday or Monday evening to discuss the research. A panel of judges will evaluate the posters and select first- and second-place winners from among student submissions in undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral levels. (Faculty ARE NOT eligible to receive awards.)
Formal poster sessions are scheduled for the days and times below, but the exhibit hall will be open beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday for general viewing. Presenting poster authors will be assigned a specific time within the two formal session blocks to be present and discuss their research. A complete list of presenting authors with their in-person discussion times will be available on this website.

Registered attendees will be able to submit an abstract for the inaugural SEC Symposium poster exhibition. (You will be required to provide a username and password.)
Actual posters should be no larger than 3 feet wide x 3.5 feet in length.

SEC UNIVERSITY SHOWCASE
Each SEC university will have an opportunity to provide information to SEC Symposium attendees as part of the SEC University Showcase. This area will be located in the Grand Hall East on the Exhibit Level of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and will consist of one display booth per university. Information available in the University Showcase may range from renewable energy research to special projects in sustainability to general data or statistics about the university.
The SEC University Showcase will be available to attendees at any time the exhibit hall is open for viewing. The current general viewing schedule for the exhibit hall is as follows:
Sunday, February 10, 2013 – 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday, February 11, 2013 – 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tuesday, February 12, 2013 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
SEC PRESIDENTS, CHANCELLORS AND PROVOSTS RECEPTION
All registered SEC Symposium attendees are invited to join the SEC Presidents, Chancellors and Provosts for an evening reception from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (eastern) on Sunday, February 10. The reception will be near the Grand Hall East on the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Exhibit Hall Level. Anticipated speakers include University of Georgia President, Dr. Michael F. Adams, and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Professor Jere Morehead. Attendees are asked to wear their nametags to the reception.
EXCELLENCE IN STUDENT ATTENDANCE AWARD
The University of Florida won the Excellence in Student Attendance Award, and the Southeastern Conference will make a contribution to the university’s general scholarship fund.
In order to encourage undergraduate student participation in the SEC Symposium, all SEC universities will be eligible for the “Excellence in Student Attendance Award.” This award will be presented at the end of the SEC Symposium to the SEC university with the most registered undergraduate students. Students will be required to show a student ID when checking in at the SEC Symposium registration desk at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta (near the Regency Ballroom on the Ballroom Level) to verify undergraduate student status.
